Building a bird cage for my parrotlet, should I go with bamboo or stainless steel?
I’m building a wooden cage for my parrotlet. I like the aesthetic look of bamboo rather than stainless steel for the bars. My idea was to use bamboo kebab skewers for the bars, they’re cheap, flexible and very inexpensive. The frame would be made out of another hardwood. My question is whether my parrotlet would be able to gnaw through the kebab-skewers? Stainless steel wire would also work, but the aesthetic wouldn’t be the same. Anyone have a parrotlet? Can they chew through anything they can get their beak around? I don’t have the bird yet, so I don’t know.
Thanks!

use the stainless steel, its not pourous and less chance of keeping germs, feces, etc. you’d be suprised where virus and infection can live in a bird cage…
