Ben & Desmond Hanging Out
Ben is a very shy bird, so it’s a big step for him to be out of his cage at his own will and sitting so closely to Desmond and keeping calm.
How do I keep my pet cockateil from throwing seed out of her cage and pooing everywhere?
So I have pet bird that hangs out in a wire cage. Unfortunately, when ever she he eats she also flips the seed too. In addition, she tends to crap everywhere. I need serious, good answers. My Dad won’t kick her out but I do get a lecture.
How can I rescue a parakeet that's at my bird feeder?
Hi. I have seen a blue and white baby parakeet at my bird feeder outside off and on for the last 6 weeks and it’s getting colder at night. (In Idaho) I didn’t think I would see it again after we had a freeze warning 2 nights ago and then it rained yesterday but it was at the feeder 3 times today. I’ve tried a cage with my conure’s food in it along with a tent and a towel over the cage and no sign of it going in. I even held food in my hand up to it and it looked at it but then flew away. I’ve heard to soak them down so they can’t fly but it hangs out in a tree where if it was too wet to fly it could land in the yard next door where there is a pit bull and another big dog.
I’m so worried now that it’s in the low 40’s at night and will be getting colder soon.
Thanks!
Suet Bird Feeder
I hung a suet feeder up over the summer and no birds seem to find it. Now that it’s winter I am trying again and this video is the first time I have seen the little birds at the feeder. These little birds always travel in groups and once one of them found the feeder it was only a matter of a minute before the feeder had ten birds on it. They all ate for about a minute and then were all gone. Birds may consume a quarter to a third of their body weight of food each day. You may be wondering what suet is . . . suet is animal fat. Suet cakes for birds are suet mixed with different combinations of things birds like to eat such as seeds, grains, nuts, fruits, or insects and provides a source of energy to wild birds. Inexpensive and durable wire cages that can be hung from branches, tree trunks, or hooks hold the suet for clinging birds—that is, birds that use their feet to cling onto objects such as the trunk of a tree. Not all birds can cling to a hanging object. One common clinging bird is the woodpecker. Jays are a type of bird that does not cling. The best price I have found the suet feeder shown here and the Suet cakes are at Wal-Mart for about .25 each.

My cockatiel always wants out of her new bird cage and won't eat from her food bowl?
I’ve had my cockatiel for 7 years, and i love her so much! so i went and bought her a new, bigger cage with new perches and everything…she seems to always want to be out of it (more than when she was in her old cage) and hang out with me 24/7 lol. is this because she doesn’t like her new cage?
also…she’ll eat her calcium perch, millet spray, etc, but she won’t eat out of her seed cup. she’d even go to the bottom of the cage and eat her poo
i showed her where it is and let her watch me pour seeds in it, but she still won’t eat out of it. it’s so weird (and i can tell she’s really hungry!) i’m not sure if she still can’t find it or what but cockatiels are intelligent.
i don’t know if she just needs time to adjust or…?
thanks!

Is it too stressful to transfer canaries to another cage when I clean theirs?
I have my cages hanging on the wall. I like to take them down at least every 6 weeks and scrub them out side. The poor birds are hard to catch and I worry that the stress is too much. I can’t really clean with them in the cage…they get frightened of a big hand in there.
Ich liebe dich, Fraulein Peaches
My beautiful rescue Moluccan, Peaches, just hanging around. no she isn’t doing tricks, nor speaking amazing stuff, just an 21 old Hen BIrd hanging in there. I requently speak to her in German, because on the rare occasion she “Speaks in Toungues”, (long disjointed rants barely audible and understandable) I sometimes hear German words. and that’s the truth. That’s our story and we’re sticking to it. ha ha thanks for watching this video and do please enjoy it too, (get it?- ha ha ha “TOO”-ha ha ha ) format=MVI_1451.MOV 6 July 2010 One day I realized that poor Peaches had been in this and only this cage for many years. Investigating around, I saw a “King Cage” which was twice the size as this one. I have (or had) a video showing Peaches relocating to her new home. In later videos, one can see it is was larger and white, as opposed to a dreary black cage.

Hanging Upside Down Crazy Talking mp3 African Grey Dusty
This is Dusty’s cage. He is playing hanging upside down being silly and dancing to his mp3 player. He says “want some food” and “comere Dust.”
Why does my bird sleep like this, and is it okay?
She used to sleep with one foot on her branch, and another tucked into her fluffed up feathers.
Lately she sleeps UPSIDE DOWN, hanging from the ceiling of her cage by one foot, and the other claw is clutching some of her tailfeathers. I find this extremely odd. She hasn’t been doing anything else weird, and she’s about a year old. Does anyone have a clue why she does this?
Well, being upside down is a little understandable, but why does she clutch her tail feathers while she does so?

what type of bird would be good to have with a cockatiel?
i have a pet cockatiel and i feel that maybe he needs somebody to uh hang out with. so i was wondering what type of bird would be good to put in his cage with him. i know maybe like another cockatiel and i also heard that canaries are good too. ive had him for about two years and he really doesn’t do anything, he just eats, craps, and tweets when he hears a noise. and are supposed to sing and like talk or something? thanks.
Is the photo of the Spanish Civil War that Virginia Wolf describes true?
Susan Sontag mentions an extract from Virginia Wolf where she describes a photo from the Spanish Civil War:
This morning’s collection contains the photograph of what might be a man’s body, or a woman’s; it is so mutilated that it might, on the other hand, be the body of a pig. But those certainly are dead children, and that undoubtedly is the section of a house. A bomb has torn open the side; there is still a bird-cage hanging in what was presumably the sitting room . . .
I am looking for this picture. ANYONE HAS ANY IDEA????
is it true?
does it exist???
Doogle, Chihuahua, abused, neglected, mistreated, rescued, training
Doogle, Chihuahua, abused, neglected, mistreated, rescued and now we started training. He’s picking up tricks in no time! This is gong to be fun to teach him and hopefully be able to take him to classrooms to get the kids attention and then teach them more about pets and their care. About Doogle Duck: Doogle was kept in a small round bird cage hanging off the ceiling in a run down puppy mill and then dumped over the animal shelter’s fence in the middle of the night about a year ago. He couldn’t even walk. Had no clue how. After his rehabilitation, which took 2 surgeries and a lot leadership to give this little 3 lbs guy some confidence, he has come around nicely and lives with 2 Great Danes and a Labrador at the Rainbow Wildlife Rescue in Texas, his forever home. We are considering teaching him some more tricks and taking him to schools to teach kids how to take proper care of their own pets. GO DOOGLE DUCK GO

Spider plant care help; Bought it with browned tips?
Why I got one:
This will be the first plant I have ever owned. I have 0 plant knowledge. I needed to get it so I could do something about the dry air around the house so I can get my parakeets in a more humid-like environment. I heard from Avitech that they resperate and create humidity and don’t require pre-existing humidity to survive as the ferns do. I was told not to get a humidifier because they create spores that is harmful to the bird’s lungs, so I took the plant route.
Problem I am worried about regarding the spider plant:
The best ones Sears Hardware (The ONLY store around that has plants out this time of year) have are browned at the tips and some leaves are mushy, but it has a lot of healthy-looking ‘babies’ sprouted about the sides.
So I was wondering :
Do I cut the brown tips off?
Do I use regular scissors?
Do I pull out the dead parts or will that harm the plant?
Over all:
What should I do to bring this plant back to full-health?
I live in North Western Indiana so there’s very little sun-light this time of year, it’s pretty cold out 30 degrees, and we’re at 33 % humidity in doors. I plan on keeping the plant just above our huge bird cage hanging from the ceiling.
Thank you kindly for your time and help.
…also, how do I know when the babies are ready to be planted in other pots? What are the signs?
What type of bird should I get?
Hi, I currently own two budgies. Now I’m interested in getting a larger bird from a breeder. Where I live, there aren’t that many breeders, so my choices are limited. I’m looking for a small to medium sized bird that would like to "hang out" with me or whatever and bond to me. I have an extra cage about 18 x 18 x 24 but I know I’ll have to buy a larger one and that’s fine.
Here are my choices:
Cockatiel
Quaker parakeet
Indian Ringneck
Rosella
Meyers
Please avoid suggesting birds not on the list or making cruel, stupid responses. No one finds them funny!
Thanks!
