this is not a proper environment for one.

outdoor birds are meant to be wild and domesticated birds are meant to be inside and protected from predators. if you cannot provide a proper home and a safe environment you should not get one at all.

birds require much education and knowledge and an avian vet for basic care. i highly suggest you do a LOT and I mean a LOT of reading up on all birds in general. you can also talk to an avian vet for free about this and I bet you he/she will tell you the same exact thing.

Birds are extremely temperature sensitive, and get chilled and/or overheated very quickly. Even if you live in a temperate climate, temperature and the overall weather can change radically.

If you are going to get a bird, I suggest putting it somewhere *indoors* where your mother doesn’t go often. If you clean the cage and give the bird a bath (they love those) often, allergens won’t be so widespread and probably less noticeable.

One more thing, I suggest getting a parakeet. They are small, and reasonably priced. They are also fairly easy to care for. But, like any pet, read up on them and research before going out and buying one. Birds should never be impulse buys!
