Should I try a new bird cage for 23-yr-old ring-neck dove?
We’ve had him for 23 years—–he’s actually a little older than that—–and he’s been in the same cage all that time. We do let him out to fly a little bit in our basement almost every day. I’ve been wondering about constructing some sort of larger caged environment for him, but I read that it’s unwise to change what an older bird is used to. Any advice?
If you can use identcal materials as the old cage and make it look and smell exactly like the original, you can try. But don’t throw away the old one. He may prefer it. Most elderly don’t like change.
