What is the initial cost of buying a small bird?
I’ve been doing a lot of research and have decided that a cockatiel is the right bird for me. What is the initial cost of the bird/cage/toys/food, etc?
Would this be crowded in his cage?
I am getting a cockatiel, and planning on this cage for him: http://birdcages4less.com/page/B/PROD/Small_Bird_Cages/PA5706
Do you think it would be crowded with all this in it?
One pedi perch, one manzanita branch, on rope perch, one small swing with spinner, one tent, and some hanging bell and shredable toys.
is there a cokatiel or larger bird that needs a good home?
my family and i are looking for a new pet, so we decided upon a cockatiel or larger. No i haven’t had experience with a large parrot but i have been reading so much and learning a lot about them. We decided about a couple of months ago and my birthday is coming up and rather than purchasing one i would like to give one a good home. We were also looking at geting a cage for it to. not to worried about the adoption price
Cockatiel: Is this cage big enough for Two?
We already have one Cockatiel, and since we’re moving soon and are both getting jobs we decided that getting a second ‘tiel as a companion for ours would be a good idea. The one we’re getting will be from the same breeder. Below is a link for the cage I’ve been looking at, it looks nice enough. Do you think it will house two cockatiels?

Question of large bird owners?
So, I am in my first year of medical school and it has been my dream to own either an African Grey or an Amazon parrot. Obviously we have a pretty hectic schedule and strange hours at times but I have faith that I will be able to take care of a large bird.
Do you think that the bird will be able to cope with a schedule that is not regular, for example during on rotation I will be on call 24/7 but may have days where I have nothing happen and remain at home for the day or others where I will spend 24 hours at the hospital.
I have a cockatiel that is amazing, I got him when he was maturing and was a little difficult at times, but now he behaves amazing. He usually gets about 5-10 hours out of his cage each day while I study but im sure that will decrease a bit when I have rotations.
I’ve been all but told to F*** off by rescue owners because they assume that I will be living at the hospital and never see the poor bird however I seem to have lots of time at home and know that I could do better than many other owners.
So large bird owners…what do you think, am I hopeless until 10 years from now when I have a house and a better schedule or can the bird handle 3-4 hours that may happen on rotations (say monday its in the morning and friday in the evening)?
ps. sorry this is a tough question to read…but its kind of complex
I have done lots of research and realize that particularly with amazons they are subject to mood changes throughout maturity and expect this
Ben & Desmond Hanging Out
Ben is a very shy bird, so it’s a big step for him to be out of his cage at his own will and sitting so closely to Desmond and keeping calm.

He loves to be pushed softly.

My cockatiel always wants out of her new bird cage and won't eat from her food bowl?
I’ve had my cockatiel for 7 years, and i love her so much! so i went and bought her a new, bigger cage with new perches and everything…she seems to always want to be out of it (more than when she was in her old cage) and hang out with me 24/7 lol. is this because she doesn’t like her new cage?
also…she’ll eat her calcium perch, millet spray, etc, but she won’t eat out of her seed cup. she’d even go to the bottom of the cage and eat her poo
i showed her where it is and let her watch me pour seeds in it, but she still won’t eat out of it. it’s so weird (and i can tell she’s really hungry!) i’m not sure if she still can’t find it or what but cockatiels are intelligent.
i don’t know if she just needs time to adjust or…?
thanks!

BIRDS HAVING FUN OUTSIDE ON THE PATIO
New addition: LUKA – blue indian ringneck hanging out on the playstand with Indee. Then there’s the rest of the FAM: Fidget & Fineus, the 2 parakeets Sunny, Sun Conure (irritated that the ringnecks have taken over his tree) Sweetie Pie: the one and only cockatiel AND OF COURSE, Charlie, my quaker that decided to talk on camerat – ‘hello’ and ‘good boy’. Which he USUALLY says: step up, good boy, and HELLO BABEEE – really loud.
Is it better to get a taller bird cage or a wider bird cage?
I was wondering what would be better. A long bird cage, or a tall bird cage?
I am getting a budgie or a cockatiel. Most likely a single budgie.
Does anyone have the hagen vision large and tall cage for birds?
I’m going to be getting a cockatiel soon and I wondered whether it was a good cage for a bird that size.
Also, does it keep in the mess as it claims on the website?
