I can’t believe how narrowmided some could be on either side of the aisle. It is a funny movie, that is setting no agendas what so ever. Some ppl are just nuts. I love it and Nathan Lane is a RIOT.
The french original version with Serrault is much better than the U.S one.
Why do Americans need to remade a movie who have the sucess in another country?
I agree, the original French movie is fantastic…. and the dubbed English version of the original is priceless, although almost impossible to find anymore.

How unfortunate that Dan Futterman had to be given a part in this; everyone else was either tolerable, or in the case of Calista Flockhart and Nathan Lane, fantastic, but Dan Futterman was totally incapable of bringing any levity to his role, and it made the movie have a depressing quality that was so not necessary if a more gifted actor had been used. It seemed like he genuinely hated Nathan Lane’s character.
This movie is the best of its kind. Incredible. So much fun, not one single moment of downtime. Robin Williams and Nathan Lane are fantastic.
